Well, well, when somebody like Anthony Calfo
puts his name on something, especially aquarium
literature, you know it is going to be world
class. After tearing open the package, I was
dumbstruck to see what greeted me. A beautiful
'National Geographic'isque' publication but with
more of a gloss and premium feel. At a whopping
100 pages, square back bound, this new magazine
oozed potential.
At the first mandatory flick through and browse,
I was amazed at the lack of advertising. All to
often we have to comb publications for their
content as advertisers dominate the pages.
However, in C Journal, is a different. This time
round, you have to look for the adverts, a great
step forward.
Now C Journal is not a marine aquarium magazine,
it is journal of 'Aquatic Science, Travel and
Adventure'. And on the 100 glossy pages, it
becomes evident that this magazine, sorry
journal, offers anybody interested in the ocean
something unique.
The photographs throughout are excellent (even
the advertisers adverts are of the highest
quality), the layout is slick, clean and allows
for an enjoyably smooth read. With articles
covering everything from photography through to
some 'quirky' columns on food, the C Journal
will appeal to at least one part of your brain.
Now I'm not going to go into detail about every
article in the magazine as that would just ruin
the surprises for you. I would suggest getting
yourself a copy (make that a subscription!) and
enjoy something new and unique that will educate
you about all things ocean orientated, and
hopefully inspire you to look at things a little
differently.
I'm looking forward to issue 2, I can guarantee
you that it will be worth the wait.
